Passover in the classroom in the evening. A family affair. Zed Zochling brought wine and said, 'It's OK for the kids. A special occasion.'

We had worked out a modified seder after reading about it and interviewing the Zochlings--who weren't impressed with the day we chose, but could see the reason.

The biggest fun was searching for the yeast, which I had asked Susan to hide for us. Emma finally found it--jammed in a keyhole in the science cupboard. she dug it out with a paperclip.

Then we ate the lamb we had cooked the day before. And the harozeth, etc.

Zed told some moving stories in response to the question from Nick (the youngest): What's so different about tonight?
