Blood on my sheets was not a good way to start the day. I had forgotten to look at the calendar. I felt better and worse at the same time when I found, waiting on my desk, a card from Milford. 'Will you be my Valentine?'
Today I started reading a book to the kids. We agreed that an after-lunch calm-down routine would be good. I'll read to them for about 20 minutes. They can hear the sound of literary language, imbibe it from their teacher's breast--so to speak. Milford's textexterone...my literary boobs.
It's not easy finding material suitable for such a wide age range. Pot luck, till I've had enough experience... With all that's in the news about Bosnia, I thought I'd start with Ian Serrailier's classic which my grade 6 teacher read to me years ago: The Silver Sword.
