Dear Fiona Kennedy

Babies should learn to walk when they're ready. For normal children that can be anywhere between 6 months and 2 and-a-bit years old.

The important thing is that a baby is encouraged to walk but not forced to walk. Lots of things have to be ready first. A baby who walks too soon may not have strong enough bones for it.

On the other hand, if you were a parent and you were worried about your infant not walking then there are plenty of people who can test your baby to make sure that nothing is wrong.

Yours sincerely
